Zach Kohn graduated from Oscar A. Carlson High School in 2016. He had an extremely successful athletic career. He was regarded as one of the top athletes in the state of Michigan. Kohn was a four year letterman in baseball and three year letterman in basketball and football.

In Baseball he was ranked the 4th best prospect in the state and top 500 nationally by Perfect Game. Kohn Finished his senior year with a .58 ERA including 1 no-hitter. He also hit three home runs. In basketball he was named all-league and dream team in each of his varsity seasons and top rebounder in the region his junior and senior year. In football he holds the all-time receiving record and most receiving touchdowns in a single season at his Alma mater. He was named to the dream team in his junior and senior seasons and also was named to the first team all Detroit metro west in his last two seasons.

Kohn Committed to D1 Central Michigan University as a Sophomore in High School and played 3 years at CMU before being drafted by the New York Yankees in the 21st round of the 2019 MLB Draft.

As a hard throwing Right-hander at CMU he compiled over 100 innings pitched, spending time as both a reliever and starter.

Kohn also pitched in the prestigious Cape Cod baseball league for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks where he compiled a 1-1 record in 32.1 IP, while striking out 36.

Kohn was selected in the 21st round of the 2019 MLB Amateur Draft. He spent 4 years as a relief pitcher in the New York Yankees Organization, where he compiled a 6-2 record while striking out 12 per nine innings.

At CMU

2019: Hard-throwing right-hander  appeared in 18 games, four of them starts … carried a 5-3 record with a 4.97 ERA … went the final 2 1/3 innings to close out 10-3 victory over Miami (Ohio) (5/18), a win that gave CMU its first MAC regular-season championship since 2015 … pitched the final 2 1/3 innings of the Chippewas 6-5 victory over Miami (Fla.) in the opening game of the NCAA Regional allowing just one hit and five strikeouts ... recorded 47 strikeouts in 44 innings.

2018: Made four starts among 11 appearances … posted a 1-1 record while striking out 29 in 23.2 IP.

2017: Appeared in 17 games, which ranked fourth on the team … made three starts … tied for fifth on the team with 39 strikeouts … allowed just eight extra base hits over 35 2/3 innings …
